My friend Roy Toft asked if I would like to help guide a trip to Alaska, to visit the famous bears of Brooks Falls. Roy and I met here in Alaska years ago when I was out photographing grizzlies on the coast and their came Roy with a group of eager photographers trailing behind. From then on we have had a great friendship.

So I jump at a chance to help Roy on any of his trips. From the photos you can tell we had a good trip. From the moment we landed we were on the beach photographing the bears. 2005 was the year of the mothers and cubs at Brooks, it was awesome!

My favorite moment was at the lower platform and a sow and her two cubs lay down and she stared to nurse them. That was the first time in the wild I have seen and heard cubs nursing. It brought me back to my days of raising my cubs. I could hear the wonderful sounds cubs make when they are suckling on their mother.

Roy and I will be heading back to Brooks River this year, so if you would like more information about the 2007 Camping with the Bears workshop, feel free to contact us. If you have your bags pack and you are ready to go, please contact Roy Toft to get your name on the list. I hope to see you on this great trip!
